SECURITY AGENCIES RAID ABUJA, ARREST 319 SUSPECTED CRIMINALS.

Security agencies in a joint raid by men of the FCT police, Army, SSS, Air force, Immigration, NDLEA, Civil Defense and the Nigerian Prisons on Saturday arrested suspected criminals numbering about 319.

A police source said the raid was necessitated by the information received on criminal hideouts in Dagba and Durumi areas of Abuja. The source said when the information was received, the FCT commissioner of police called on other security agencies to work with the command to crack down those notorious hideouts.
“As a result, all the security agencies stormed the area and arrested suspected criminals. Guns, bags of Indian hemp and dangerous weapons were also recovered in the area,” the source hinted.
The FCT police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel, confirmed the arrest, saying the raid was conducted jointly by security agencies which include the Police, Army, SSS, Navy, Airforce, Immigrations, NDLEA, Civil Defence and the Prisons Service.
“The raid was conducted at Dagba, Durumi area, on criminal hideouts, shanties and uncompleted buildings. A total of 319 suspects were arrested and items recovered from them include toy guns, substances believed to be indian hemp and other dangerous weapons. Illegal immigrants were also among those arrested,” she said.
The FCT PPRO said based on the ongoing screening, those found with drugs will be handed over to drugs agency for prosecution while the illegal immigrants would be handed over to the immigration authorities.
“Equally, those with criminally attached records will be charged to court immediately. The screening is in progress and we are taking the whole exercise very seriously,” she said.
